Get Started with Cloud Communication

Before you send your first request, you need three things: test access, test cards and an API key.

1. Get a test Adyen merchant account

Send an email to posar@straumur.is. We create a test merchant account for you and send you access to Adyen's test Customer Area:

https://ca-test.adyen.com

2. Get test cards

Ask for test cards in the same email. We send them to you. Use them on the test terminal; real cards do not work in the test environment.

3. Create an API key

  1. Log in to the test Customer Area.
  2. Go to Developers > API credentials.
  3. Select Create new credential and choose Web service user.
  4. Under Server settings > Authentication, select Generate API key.
  5. Copy the API key and store it somewhere safe. You can't see it again after you leave the page.
  6. Select Save changes.
note

If you can't create a credential, or your requests return 401 or 403, contact posar@straumur.is.

4. Find your terminal's POIID

Every request needs the ID of the terminal it's for (the POIID). It's the terminal model and serial number, for example S1F2-000158213601234.

Find it in the Customer Area under In-person payments > Terminals.
