Official setup guide

The full step-by-step guide — installation, settings, API key and Terminal Identifier, webhook configuration and subscriptions — is on straumur.is: WooCommerce leiðbeiningar (in Icelandic).

Getting the plugin

Install Straumur Payments for WooCommerce from the WordPress plugin directory, or search for it under Plugins → Add New in WordPress.

Requirements

MinimumTested up to
WooCommerce8.110.8
WordPress5.27.0
PHP7.4

What the plugin does

  • Sends the shopper to Straumur's Hosted Checkout and brings them back to your store.
  • Updates the WooCommerce order status from Straumur webhooks — do not rely on the shopper's return alone.
  • Supports automatic capture (default) or Authorize Only for manual capture. Authorized orders are placed on hold until you capture them from the order screen.
  • Full and partial refunds from the WooCommerce order screen, sent through the Straumur refund API and confirmed by webhook.

Setup

  1. In the plugin settings, enter the API key and Terminal Identifier from the Merchant Portal. See API Keys.
  2. Copy the Webhook URL shown in the plugin settings and register it as a webhook endpoint in the Merchant Portal, subscribed to the payment events. See Webhook configuration.
  3. Test with the test cards before going live.
